Twinverse FAQ

Twinverse Virtual World

What is Twinverse?
Twinverse is the first virtual world reflecting the Earth's geography where users travel the globe, meet and communicate with other people, discover geo-tagged web information and contribute interesting content for the benefit of others.

What else makes Twinverse different?
Lots of things. Twinverse is the only virtual world offering its users a Home, a place where even if you are not online people can visit, check your profile, and leave you messages. And, unlike most other virtual worlds, Twinverse is part of the web - leveraging internet content and enriching the web with Twinverse postings.

How does Twinverse work?
Very well, thank you. In short, the Twinverse software downloaded to your PC connects you to a network which lets you explore Twinverse and communicate with other visitors. For a more technical review, the Twinverse peer-to-peer architecture for virtual worlds is described in this pdf document.

Is Twinverse free?
Yes. Just download and install our software -- you are all set!

Who uses Twinverse?
Travelers, virtual world enthusiasts, college students, explorers, curiosity seekers, and people looking to connect with other people. Everyone will find something interesting in Twinverse.

Who can I see in Twinverse?
Just like in daily life, you will be able to see and converse with the people closest to you. Since Twinverse is a virtual world, however, you might likely connect with people from another city or another country as those in your own neighborhood.

Can businesses display their presence in Twinverse?
Yes, just contact advertise@twinverse.com

Getting Around in Twinverse

What is my Twin?
The Twin is your representation in Twinverse, the avatar you create that represents you inside the mirror world. Since Twinverse is not a fantasy environment, we suggest you to use an actual photograph of yourself so you can establish real relationships with other users.

We have created a dropdown menu with links to some of the most popular meeting places in Twinverse. Just click on the "Meeting Points" tab in the upper menu bar and select a place you would like to visit.

Yes, simply type the name of the place you are looking for in the "Search Location" tool in the upper menu bar. You can type in either a City and Country or an exact address.

How can I bookmark my favorite places?
If you have found a place in Twinverse that you want to come back to easily, it’s easy to create a bookmark. While you are at the place you want to mark, click on your Twin and select "Mark as a Favorite Place here". You will then be asked to name the place, mark it public or private, leave a description, and add searchable keywords.

How can I revisit my favorite places?
To revisit your bookmarked places, click on the tab marked "My Places". Your favorite places will be displayed and you can visit them with a single click!

Can I establish a Home for myself in Twinverse?
Yes! When you first create an account, Twinverse will place your Home based on your IP address. If you prefer to establish your Home somewhere else, simply move your Twin to the location you wish. Click on your Twin and select "Establish My Home Here". It’s that easy. An icon shaped like a Home will now appear in that space with your display name, denoting it as your Home. Given the high resolution in modern mapping services you may, for privacy reasons, want to place your Home at a location different than your actual residence.
